Local motors is developing a new world-market autonomous vehicle named Olli that will be fabricated of primarily 3D printed components here in Knoxville. Olli will be able to respond to smartphone stop requests as well as visits to pre-set transit stops. Local Motors has asked the studio to imagine what a transit stop for such a vehicle might look like. How might we incorporate energy production, lighting, seating and data visualization into a 3D printed structure? What natural precedents might inform a strong yet light-weight structural system?
