Statement
Enormous growth in world population, rapid urbanization and improving living standards are extraordinary challenges for cities in the 21st century. To respond, radical shifts are needed in the way are designed, engineered and sustained. The next-generation city has to be resilient and efficient within its natural ecological system. Progress cannot be created by one industry or sector alone - we need unprecedented collaboration among educators, researchers, designers, public officials, business leaders and citizens.
